Our Lady of the Desert Sun

~ New Mexico Icon Painting ~

In October while out in Albuquerque, New Mexico -

I had the pleasure of dropping into Polly Jackson's painting class at the University of New Mexico and did this painting.

I was enchanted with the Land of Enchantment...colors, sky, pinon pine, mountains, air, water...
and the rich religious culture. It all worked it's magic...just looking at this painting draws me back.

Not the Hotline

I am seriously considering going back in time ~
this is a wonderful cobalt blue old rotary telephone
I found online....... who knew they worked with today's modular stuff ? And if the electricity goes out...guess what...they still work :) Besides I love the old ringers too. Just amazing how many restored ones are out there...of course there are reproduction ones too......even with push buttons........However, I am kinda fond of this one circa 1941. Getting Greener....Green Smoothie Challenge

Went to the monthly dinner/meeting of Raw Foods in Beverly Hills, Florida. Angela gave a great demo on Green Smoothies with Winter Green Smoothies. They were great. Blueberries,Bananas and Spinach...Got me hooked and I am now on day 3 of the Green Smoothie Challenge. From Green for Life : Victoria Boutenko. (Today's smoothie recipe: blueberries, frozen bananas without the peel :), chard, and parsley.) They are so tasty and filling not bitter and yukky at all. I purchased organic produce from Annie's Organics here in Florida. We get our boxes of organic produce locally 2x a month. So this is perfect for eating all those greens. Got out the old Vita Mixer and away we went :) This GS Challenge is to drink Green Smoothies for 14days. (I am eating other foods too besides green smoothies trying to eat at least 1/2 raw and always organic if I can) It is amazing the energy boost. I haven't had the desire for coffee or tea in 3 days. Very unusual for me. I do love my chai tea but haven't had one and that's okay. I think it is great to take a break from caffeine and heavy foods especially meats.
Not saying I will be raw, vegan or veg head for 100% but I believe it is wonderful to incorporate in diet. I will continue to post as the challenge goes along...

"Skyline Boots" is available and can be purchased on my site on Esty.com

Day After Downtown Ocala February Artwalk

Just love Saturdays. Especially Saturday mornings!

Last night's ArtWalk in downtown Ocala was fun. Every 1st Friday in downtown Ocala, FL about 20 or so artists setup outside merchants painting and visiting with everyone. I am at a truly sweet location at the Ocala Chocolate & Confections shop on Fort King Street. Last night was great, even with weather being not the best, lots of folks were downtown having a good time. Thanks to all of you who came by the Chocolate Shop.

I had fun visiting with you all as I was working on my new painting. Hope to see you next month too! And Norman's Chocolates are world class aren't they!!! ....so yummy and individually handcrafted. He is a true "Gourmet Chocolate Artist". Of course I did sample a few chocolate delights ...thanks Norman.
